PMUC Pilot Plants provide an alternative for SMEs to reduce business risks, offering services nationwide under the support of the PMUC.

Prototype factories in the food industry sector are now available to provide services for the production of functional foods, dietary supplements, and health products. Herbal extraction from local raw materials is an option for SMEs seeking to develop food products to increase value and reduce risks associated with prototype production, product development, market testing, toxicity studies, or packaging development through technology and innovation.

PMUC has supported infrastructure funding to establish a network of prototype factories in the food industry and functional ingredients at 9 universities to serve private sectors across all regions of the country, including:

Northern Region:

  • Agro-Biz Industrial Business Service Center, Chiang Mai University
  • Comprehensive Herbal Innovation Center, Mae Fah Luang University
  • Prototype Herbal Extract and Product Manufacturing Plant, Naresuan University

Northeastern Region:

  • Prototype Agriculture and Food Factory, Khon Kaen University
  • Bio-refinery Pilot Plant, Suranaree University of Technology

Central Region:

  • Prototype Factory Development and Training Institute (PRO-FACT), King Mongkut University of Technology Thonburi
  • Natural Flavor and Fragrance Extraction Prototype Factory, Kasetsart University
  • Food Innovation Extension City, Kasetsart University

The PMUC has supported international standard machinery and state-of-the-art technology to establish infrastructure to enhance the readiness of universities to meet the needs of the private sector and adapt to changes in the food industry. Each factory has specialized experts to provide consultancy services in scaling up production, product analysis and testing, quality assurance, training, and technology transfer to develop high-value food entrepreneurs.

For further information on each prototype factory, the PMUC will gradually provide updates for public viewing through its official website.
