This includes an automatic capsule filling machine, a spray drying machine, a high-efficiency cold press oil extraction machine with a capacity of 10 liters, a vacuum evaporator with accessories, a 12-liter microwave extraction system to develop systems and processes for analysis, testing, and certification of raw materials and herbal products according to ISO 17025 standards. This promotes the application of laboratory research to industrial-level development, linking research between entrepreneurs and researchers in developing high-potential herbal products. The project is led by Assistant Professor Rawiwan Charoensap, Ph.D., the head of the comprehensive Herbal Innovation Center at Mae Fah Luang University. The focus is on comprehensive herbal development, from developing high-quality raw materials, selecting breeds, propagating, planting, harvesting, and storing to ensure quality raw materials, researching and developing products to drive industrial production, as well as promoting marketing.
With the project’s highlight reflecting the Bio-Circular-Green Model (BCG) concept, which involves the application of green extraction technology in the project and pilot plant. Green extraction technology focuses on environmentally friendly processes, not causing pollution for both producers and consumers. Therefore, PMUC believes that the center can further develop research until it can elevate it to industrial development, creating new entrepreneurs and generating income for them. Entrepreneurs can access services for analysis, testing, and certification of raw materials and herbal products to increase opportunities and reduce risks in product development, market trials, and scaling up production to the industrial level. This will lead to increased investment in research and innovation by Thai entrepreneurs in the S-Curves industry, elevating the Thai herbal industry to be a significant force in driving the Thai economy, promoting good health, and enhancing the quality of life of the Thai people. Through research, development, and expansion to add value to herbs and applying knowledge to develop further with appropriate technology, we strengthen the capacity of SME entrepreneurs, farmers, and community enterprises in terms of knowledge and product development, quality standards analysis, to build Thailand’s herbal industry to gain international recognition, creating income and sustainability throughout the supply chain.
